The Last of Us (Variation)

Listening is a form of practice. Free MP3 Download.

Two of my favorite themes by Gustavo Santaolalla are: The Last of Us main title theme, and The Choice (also from The Last of Us video game soundtrack).

Inspired by Gustavo Santaolalla’s recent E3 performance, where he performed a slight variation of the title theme — I decided to create my own arrangement, combining the title theme and The Choice. This is something I’ve always wanted to do.

Gosh, the depth and creativity of Santaolalla’s The Last of Us score — even years later — never ceases to amaze me. Much like you, I can’t get enough of his music.

For The Last of Us (Variation) I used my Cordoba C7 Cedar top. It’s a dark and deep sounding guitar. Perfect for low and alternate tunings. For a current list of my gear, click here.

How to play The Last of  Us (Variation) for guitar

(Note: This is my premium material. Please join my email list to be updated on all of my latest guitar tabs.)

The Last of Us (Variation) is relatively easy to play. However, I feel it’s best suited to intermediate level guitar players. The guitar tab is long, and there quite a few trills interspersed throughout that would styme most beginner guitar players.

The guitar tab is beautifully written and a whopping FIVE pages long. You’ll play it straight through without any repeats.

I loved playing and performing this piece. Enjoy! The guitar tab is available below:

The Last of Us (Variation) is played in a nifty F minor tuning. Your tuning is as follows, from low to high: C F C F G# C. Or, depending on your tuner: C F C F Ab C.
