I Get to Love You

As I write this post, I’m sitting in a hotel room in Harrisburg PA on New Years Eve. I’ll be performing ‘I Get to Love You’ as a bride processional this evening for my wife’s cousin’s wedding. I guess that would be my cousin-in-law?

Anyway, my wife’s entire immediate family has Covid — except for me. Thank goodness, as I’m also the wedding’s musician. Alas, I’m alone in Harrisburg as sole representative of the my wife’s side of their family.

I thought this turned out to be a pretty sweet fingerstyle arrangement. ‘Ruelle’ is the pseudonym of Maggie Eckford, an American electropop singer-songwriter. ‘I Get to Love You’ is actually a departure from her sound. Written for her husband, it’s a pretty song that establishes more of her Mississippi and Nashville roots.
