The Path (A New Beginning)
Within the critically acclaimed video game and HBO series The Last of Us, Gustavo Santaolalla’s “The Path (A New Beginning)” symbolizes hope, amidst a brutal world. Whether the song accompanies a hopeful glance across a ravaged landscape, or a moment of shared vulnerability — it’s a testament to Santaolalla’s masterful ability to evoke complex emotions with seemingly simple arrangements.
However, my personal preference from The Last of Us soundtracks are songs like: Unbroken, Longing, The Choice, and Allowed to be Happy. For my arrangement, I wanted to bring The Path down to a darker, more brooding tenor — more like the aforementioned songs.
