The Last Duel

This is the central theme from The Last Duel. This motif is manifested on quite a few tracks from the soundtrack by, Harry Gregson Williams. The song ‘Managing the Estate’ is specifically what I used to create this guitar arrangement.

‘The Last Duel’ is about the last, legally sanctioned duel in France’s history where, in 1386, Marguerite de Carrouges claimed to have been raped by her husband’s best friend and squire, Jacques Le Gris. This sets off a cascade of events where Marguerite’s husband, Jean de Carrouges, challenges Le Gris to trial by combat.

The score for this film is EXCELLENT, and should be the background music for any renaissance festival. The composer, Harry Gregson-Williams has scored many of Ridley Scott’s films, including Prometheus and The Martian.

Given that there are no fretted chords to speak of, The Last Duel is relatively easy to play. However, given the speed and the trills, I recommend this song for intermediate guitar players and up. This will be a nice “Celtic” piece for your repertoire. Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

The guitar tab for this arrangement is beautifully written across a single page.  My order of play looks like this, in accordance with the guitar tab:

Main 2x, End section

Main 1x, End section

This piece is tuned like this, from Low to High: D A D A A D. You’ll be tuning your G string up to A so please take care. Take it slow, don’t break your string!
