Bella

Poor Things is a 2023 film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. The movie is based on the 1992 novel (of the same name) by Alasdair Gray. The story follows Bella (Emma Stone), a young woman in Victorian London, who is brought back to life by an unorthodox, Frankensteinian scientist. As she’s unbound by the convention of her times, Bella embarks on a quest of self-discovery and liberation.

The music, by composer Jerskin Fendrix, is equally as innovative as the film. To me, the soundtrack begs the image of windup doll. I liked the introductory song, “Bella” the most, and It was well suited to fingerstyle guitar.

The guitar tab for this piece is beautifully written across 2 pages, and played straight through without repeats. I recommend this for beginner and intermediate guitar players. There is an F minor bar chord that might be difficult for a total beginner, but overall, the song is relatively easy to play.
