Paint It Black
(iconic riff starts at 0:23)
While playing around with the Paint It Black riff — my guitar (with a mind of it’s own) — decided to toss in The Night King by Ramin Djawadi, and a little bit of the James Bond Theme too. That’s how things happen. When I write or create derivative material — the guitar takes over like a dowsing rod. I channel the music from the unknown.
That’s why it’s important for you to create and write music – no matter your skill set. Don’t judge your material in real time. Take your ego out of it. Let the inspiration happen. Not only does creating your own stuff improve your ear — it also improves your skill and technique. You’re an artist, go paint something.
