The NeverEnding Story

It’s great that Stranger Things brought back The NeverEnding Story. I loved that theme (and movie) when I was a kid. Movies were so adventurous and far out in the 80’s. Labyrinth, Goonies, Legend, The Dark Crystal, Beetlejuice. The list goes on and on. My wife and I are reliving a lot of those movies with our son Matthew (7). We just watched The Neverending Story together the other night. Tremendous.

How to play The NeverEnding Story | fingerstyle guitar

This arrangement is definitely for intermediate guitar players and up. While most if the shapes are easy, you’ll have to be agile. I felt like I was playing in short bursts the entire time. I fret the chord at 0:23 with my thumb on the bass note. You don’t have to do this, but it was faster for me.

The guitar tab is beautifully written across two pages and played straight through twice. I hope you enjoy this. The guitar tab is available below:

My order of play looks like this in accordance with the guitar tab:

Verse 2x, Pre-chorus, Chorus 1x

Verse 2x, Pre-chorus, Chorus 2x.

The first chorus will be ended where I’ve indicated in the guitar tab.

Stranger Things (Season 3): The NeverEnding Story | fingerstyle guitar

The Never Ending Story is played in an open G tuning: D G D G B D. Then you’ll place a capo on the 4th fret. I liked this position because the fret-board is easier (for me) to read. To be in the exact key of the song, place your capo in the fifth fret.
