E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) is a science fiction film produced and directed by Steven Spielberg. E.T. tells the story of Elliott, a boy who befriends an extraterrestrial who is stranded on Earth. Elliott and his siblings help E.T. return to his home planet, while attempting to keep him hidden from the government.

I was 5 when E.T. was released at theaters. It was a massive part of my childhood — and a movie that everyone universally (no pun intended) loved. E.T. recently made a resurgence 37 years later with a heartwarming Thanksgiving Day Xfinity commercial. The classic ‘Flying Theme’ by John Williams is inextricable from the film.

I’ve been refining this performance for two weeks. The guitar tab is beautifully written across 3 pages and played straight through without repeats. I took a ton of creative license with my key change and transitions — but I think it formulated into an exquisite guitar piece.

I hope you enjoy playing this. Remember to always phone home.
