The Haunting of Bly Manor

This performance is musical suite comprising the central themes from The Haunting of Bly Manor. The Newton Brothers (Andy Grush and Taylor Newton Stewart) have really outdone themselves in dramatic fashion. As with its predecessor (The Haunting of Hill House) the music is very thematic and almost acts as an additional character/ghost in the series.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is a supernatural horror/drama series created by Mike Flanagan for Netflix. The Newton Brothers have scored nearly all of Mike Flanagan’s works since 2013. However, The Haunting Anthology is really where the music ambitiously takes center stage. The music and film are inextricably linked.

Even still, I recommend this as a stand-alone album. It’s a glorious modern classical score filled with heart. My favorite selections are Withered Garlands and We Are Special.  The latter evokes the gentleness of Johann Johannsson’s work.
