Napoleon’s Piano

Ridley Scott’s Napoleon is a look at the military commander’s ruthless climb to power through the prism of his obsessed and volatile relationship with his wife, Josephine. I love that Ridley Scott (85) is still creating historical epics. The older he gets, he seems to prefer distinguished, polarizing scripts. His film, The Last Duel, had a horrible box-office — but it’s actually one of Scott’s best ever films.

Napoleon’s Piano, from British composer, Martin Phipps, is the central theme of the film. You can hear how he was able to extrapolate other motifs from the main title: Ladies in Waiting, and Look Down. Phipps is most famous as the composer for, The Crown (Netflix).

The guitar tab for this arrangement is beautifully written across 2 pages. I recommend it for beginner guitar players and up. Enjoy! The guitar tab is available below:

My song structure looks like this in accordance with the guitar tab:

This piece is played one whole step down. Here’s my tuning from low to high: D G C F A D. You can just as easily play this in standard tuning, it will sound great.
