Game of Thrones

Having just watched the 1st episode of House of the Dragon, I find myself enamored (all over again) with Ramin Djawadi’s Main Title theme. I’m so happy that is still the central motif in the new prequel series. Episode 1 delivered on all fronts. It’s very reminiscent of early Game of Thrones.

I always wanted to create my own guitar arrangement of the Game of Thrones Main Title. However, the shifting chord and melody scheme, made it difficult to create a relatively smooth arrangement for guitar. I couldn’t figure it out, for years. Thankfully my experience had finally coalesced enough for me to take another crack at it. I believe this is some of my finest work to date.

How to play the Game of Thrones Main title theme (fingerstyle guitar)

The guitar tab for my GoT arrangement is 2 pages long, and beautifully written. This piece is best for intermediate guitar players and up. Have fun and I hope you enjoy playing this as much as I do.

The guitar tab is available below:

Although it may seem like I’m playing a lot of stuff, it’s relatively simple:

Intro, Verse 2x,

Chorus 2x.

*Game of Thrones: Main Title theme for classical guitar

The Main Title is played two whole steps down. Your tuning is as follows, from low to high: C F A# D# G C. Although, you could just as easily play this in standard tuning, or only slightly tuned down. It all works!
