Band of Brothers

Band of Brothers is a 2001 American war drama miniseries based on the 1992 book (of the same name) by WW2 historian, Stephen E. Ambrose. The series was created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who had collaborated on the 1998 World War II film, Saving Private Ryan.

Band of Brothers tells the story of Easy Company, part of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army, from its training days in Georgia to its final days of combat in Germany. The men of Easy Company were in near constant warfare from Normandy to Bastogne, and beyond. Eventually they would help liberate a Nazi concentration camp and take Hitler’s personal Eagle’s Nest retreat.

Richard Davis Winters (January 21, 1918 – January 2, 2011) is best known for having served with (and later commanding) Easy Company. He received quick promotions during the war, eventually being promoted to major and placed in command of the regiment’s 2nd Battalion.

Lieutenant Winters is one of my personal heroes, and he is one of greatest leadership stories in American history. His role (in Band of Brothers) is deftly played by British actor, Damian Lewis. The sentimental music is by composer, Michael Kamen. I love this theme. I hope you enjoy it!

How to play Band of Brothers | fingerstyle guitar

The guitar tab for this piece is beautifully written across a single page. Band of Brothers is suitable for beginner guitar players — as all of the chord shapes are relatively easy to play.

Enjoy! The guitar tab is available below:

The arrangement is essentially one long passage player twice.

My tuning is one whole step down (from low to high): D G C F A D. You can just as easily place this piece in standard tuning.
