If Beale Street Could Talk is a 2018 romantic drama film written and directed by Barry Jenkins. The film follows a young woman in early 1970s Harlem — who seeks to clear the name of her lover, charged with a crime he did not commit.

Nicholas Britell’s score is brilliant. It’s at once; jazzy, melancholy, and tender.

For this arrangement, I used my Cordoba C7 Cedar. It’s a deep and warm sounding guitar. You can find a current list of all of my gear here.

I based this arrangement from the themes: Harlem (Eden) and Agape. The guitar tab is only one page long and it’s relatively easy to play. Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

In accordance with the guitar tab, my song structure looks like this:

The long passage in the [ repeat brackets ]  is played twice. Within that passage is also repeated section. You’ll then play the End section.

If Beale Street Could Talk: theme for guitar (Nicholas Britell)

This piece is played one whole step down. My tuning is D G C F A D. You can easily play it in standard tuning as well.
