I just started Season 1 in anticipation of watching HBO’s Deadwood: The Movie. I had always heard it was a great show and it doesn’t disappoint. Ian McShane is spectacular and his performance is a must see.

I dig the main title theme and I wanted to flesh it out on guitar. I was doing everything from steel-string acoustic to slide guitar. In the end it settled on a finger-style arrangement on one of my classical guitars.

How to play the Deadwood Theme for guitar

The guitar tab for this piece is beautifully written across 3 pages and played straight through without repeats. I especially like the sound of the Eastern/Gypsy end section. I recommend this for intermediate to advanced guitar players.
