El Paso
El Paso is beautiful little étude for Spanish guitar. The piece is by composer, Harry Gregson-Williams, from the 2004 film, Man on Fire. The film starred Denzel Washington as “Creasey” a washed up former special forces operator, who takes a gig as the personal bodyguard of a little girl named “Pita”, played by Dakota Fanning. Man on Fire is a violent revenge film, and eventually led to Denzel playing a similar character in the Equalizer franchise.
I remember at the time, Man on Fire was a very gritty movie, and I loved it! Denzel’s character is a pill-popping alcoholic — whose life eventually finds meaning and purpose in methodically tracking down and eliminating Pita’s kidnappers.
El Paso is a perfect little song for beginner and intermediate guitar players to try something slightly difficult, without any time investment. Big thanks to Joe (one of my Premium Members) who put this on my radar screen.
