Morning

Morning is the central theme from August: Osage County — a highly underrated soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla. Much like Brokeback Mountain, the film’s score has Santaolalla exploring uniquely American themes.

How to play Morning by Gustavo Santaolalla

Morning is beautifully written across two pages. It’s essentially one long passage, played twice. This piece is relatively easy to play. While best for intermediate guitar players, beginners can definitely give it a shot too.

I like this song as an etude that really works Santaolalla’s arpeggiated right-hand technique.  A good start for that technique would be a song called Did This Really Happen?

Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

The guitar tab is played twice through. You’ll also take care to repeat the section between the brackets — as indicated in the guitar tab.

Morning is played in standard tuning with a capo on the 5th fret. Those with bigger hands/fingers will want to put the capo on the 3rd fret, or none at all. It’s still sounds great no matter what position you’re in.
