“Seattle Arrival”

Big thanks to Sam, one of my readers who clued me into this track. I’m a Gustavo Santaolalla superfan — but I’m not a gamer, so I had no idea this song existed. It’s an untitled and unreleased track from The Last of Us Part II known as “Seattle Arrival.”

It’s a classic Santaolalla piece — and honestly, I’m not sure why it never made the official 28-track soundtrack release. My best guess is that it lived inside the game as an adaptive cue, music that simply dissolved into the world around it rather than standing on its own. The other possibility? It’s a bit redundant sitting next to tracks like “Unbroken” and “Longing” — two pieces that carry far more narrative weight in the game. “Seattle Arrival” is quieter than both. More understated. But that’s also what drew me to it.
