The Luck Is Ours Alone
While Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon focus on the high-stakes maneuvering of kings, queens, and Great Houses—A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms offers a refreshing, more intimate look at George R.R. Martin’s world. Based on the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, the series follows the chivalrous hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his diminutive squire, Egg, roughly a century before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen.
Ever since Ramin Djawadi’s masterful GoT score, music has served as a “hidden character” within Westeros. Mirroring the show’s smaller scale, the soundtrack for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is largely stripped back. It’s a mix of rustic guitar and prominent violin with a distinct “Celtic folk influence” that matches the personal stakes of the story.
I love the entire soundtrack, but for me, “The Luck Is Ours Alone” is the standout piece. It carries a sense of tenderness and adventure that almost feels like a nod to The Shire from The Lord of the Rings.
