Sendero

I originally posed this song in 2012, but I’m much better at sound quality now and wanted to update Sendero for 2018. I love how Gustavo Santaolalla stays tight to the beat, almost like fingerstyle funk. As per usual, he’s only working with a few chord shapes — but extracts the maximum from them.

Sendero is from Gustavo Santaolalla’s venerable Motorcycle Diaries soundtrack. Great film, even better music. Go on a road trip and just press PLAY.

How to play Sendero by Gustavo Santaolalla

Overall I would classify Sendero as relatively easy to play. However, it’s best suited for intermediate guitar players and up.

The guitar tab is two pages long and beautifully written. In accordance with the guitar tab, you’ll play the main passage twice, then the end section. I’ve included the names of a few of the chord shapes within the tab to help you more quickly identify your positioning.

Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

Sendero is played a whopping 2 1/2 steps down: B E A D F# B. You can easily play it in standard — or even just one whole step down if you don’t want to take your guitar that low.
