El Recuerdo

Free audio download on SoundCloud.

El Recuerdo (The Memory) by Gustavo Santaolalla, is from the soundtrack for Narcos: Mexico. The whole thing is a treasure trove of gorgeous, minimalist pieces by Santaolalla. I can’t wait to dig into to even further. I’m already a few episodes into Narcos: Mexico — and I’m quickly reminded that Narcos is one of the best series ever created.

Gear used

This is a pretty crazy one-of-a-kind Taylor guitar; sinker-redwood and bloodwood. It belongs to a collector friend mine. It’s about $7000. I’m being REALLY careful with it :) You can find a current list of my personal gear here.

The guitar tab for this piece is beautifully written across two pages. It may look easy, but due to the stretched-out chord positions, I recommend this song for intermediate guitar players and up. I hope you enjoy playing this as much as I do! The guitar tab is available below:

My order of play for El Recuerdo look like this:

Verse 2x, Bridge

Verse 1x, End

Narcos: Mexico – El Recuerdo (Gustavo Santaolalla) fingerstyle guitar

This arrangement is played in a double Drop-D tuning. You’ll drop both E strings to D. It looks like this (from low to high): D A D G B D
