Every 27 Years

[Updated and reposted from 2017.]

Every 27 Years is a hauntingly beautiful composition by composer, Benjamin Wallfisch, that was featured in the 2017 film adaptation of Stephen King’s IT. The piece serves as a thematic undercurrent — hinting at the cyclical nature of Pennywise’s return, and the enduring trauma experienced by the Losers’ Club. As a solo piano piece, it sounds like delicate (yet demented) carnival music.

Even when distilled to a single guitar, you can see the sophisticated operating level of Benjamin Wallfisch. His score is a masterclass in horror, and he should have been nominated for an Academy Award in 2017.
