The Prince That Was Promised

House of the Dragon, begins nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The show portrays the reign of House Targaryen, and their children battling for control of the Iron Throne. The glorious music is from Game of Thrones composer, Ramin Djawadi. His score for the previous series is truly a modern classic. The Prince That Was Promised is definitive tune from House of the Dragon Season 1.

Personally, I love House of the Dragon. At this point in the timeline, the Targaryen’s have controlled and quelled the Seven Kindoms for nearly 100 years. The tone is slightly different from Game of Thrones (2011-2019) but still unmistakably Westeros

How to play The Prince That Was Promised | fingerstyle guitar

The guitar tab for this piece is beautifully written across 2 pages. It’s relatively easy to play and suitable for beginner guitar players. I hope you enjoy playing this as much as I do! The guitar tab is available below:

My song structure looks like this:

Verse #1, Chorus #1 2x

Verse #2, Chorus #2 2x

You’ll then return to the top of page 2.

My version of this piece is played one whole step down, with the 6th string dropped to C. This gave it a darker tonality: C G C F A D. However, the original key (of the actual song) would be played in standard, Drop D: D A D G B E.
