The Banshees of Inisherin

The Banshees of Inisherin, is a 2022 black comedy written and directed by British-Irish playwright, Martin McDonagh. The film follows two lifelong friends (Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson) who find themselves at an impasse, when one abruptly ends their relationship. The predicament triggers alarming consequences for both.

The music is by famed Coen Brothers composer, Carter Burwell. He really has perfected the art of “unsentimental” music. Burwell moves beneath the story along with an ever-so-slight quirkiness to his melodies.

Walking Home Alone can be considered the main theme of The Banshees of Inisherin.

How to play Walking Home Alone | fingerstyle guitar

The guitar tab for Walking Home Alone, is beautifully written across a single page. Although the chords are relatively easy to play, they have some convoluted names like: C sus b6, b9 and, C Maj 7th #5 no.3. I put the names of chord shapes above the guitar tab to help you play the piece more efficiently.

No need to memorize or even learn those complicated chord names. I had no idea what they were either. I used a chord analyzer to figure them out.

Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

My song structure goes like this:
