I’m very excited to see this movie. Lion is an inspirational true story:
A little boy, Saroo, errantly falls asleep on a train which takes him thousands of miles across India, away from home and family. Saroo is eventually adopted by a loving Australian couple. 25 years later, haunted by the memories of his first family, Saroo sets out to find his lost family and finally return home.
The music for Lion, is composed by Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka. Dustin O’Halloran is multi instrumentalist film composer, and post-classical music composer. Hauschka is the working name of Volker Bertelmann, a German pianist and composer.
I’m a massive fan of composer Dustin O’Halloran, and it’s been a couple of years since I’ve had the opportunity to play his music on guitar.
With the Lion Theme, they’re piano arpeggio, when played on guitar, comes across like a Gustavo Santaolalla piece. A simple, driving cadence.

How to play Lion Theme for classical guitar
The guitar tab for Lion Theme is 3 pages long and played straight through. Rather than crowd the guitar tab with arpeggios, I simply use dots (. . . .) to indicate how many times the arpeggio is played.
You’ll take care to repeat a section 2x on the first and second pages of the guitar tab.
Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:
Lion Theme is played in standard tuning:
