Kids

“Kids”, by synth composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, is a central theme from the Stranger Things soundtrack. It perfectly captures the show’s sense of wonder and 1980’s retro vibe. Of all of the musical motifs from the Netflix show, I think Kids (called Teens in later seasons) is my favorite. The theme channels the childhood freedom of a late-night bike ride through Hawkins, Indiana — and the simplicity of a bygone era.

This piece worked out easily for fingerstyle guitar, and is very easy to play.

Page 1 is Kids (as I play it) in a low alternate tuning: C F Bb F Bb D.

Page 2 is Kids (in a more traditional tuning) one whole-step down: D G C F A D. This arrangement is still very easy to play and can even be done in standard tuning.
