I Remember Everything

Zach Bryan is one of the biggest artists in America blending anthemic roots music, poetic lyrics, and a raw, bare bones delivery. His sold out live performances are literal revivals — with concert goers singing so loud, that they drown out the band. He actually got his start from posting his songs on Twitter (now X) while still in the US Navy.

My current favorite tune from Bryan is “I Remember Everything” featuring Kasey Musgraves. It’s a bittersweet song that’s more subdued — and that works well with my guitar style.

A cold shoulder at closing timeYou were begging me to stay ’til the sun roseStrained words come on outOf a grown man’s mouth when his mind’s brokePictures and passin’ timeYou only smile like that when you’re drinkingI wish I didn’t, but I doRemember every moment on the nights with you.”

Zach Bryan is only in his late 20’s, yet his lyrics are from an old soul that’s lived a lifetime. This song (to me) seems to be about a tumultuous, on again — off again relationship. The genius of the poetry is that the lyrics are just ambiguous enough, that we can all put our own personal story into them.
