Exit Music (For A Film)

Exit Music (For A Film) is a somber track by the English rock band, Radiohead. Released on their landmark 1997 album, OK Computer — “Exit Music” has become a testament to the band’s ability to create brooding, cinematic music.

The piece was actually commissioned for the end credits of the 1996 film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann. However, the song was ultimately not used in the film’s final cut, with Radiohead’s “Talk Show Host” being used instead. A similar instance happened when Radiohead’s “Spectre” was nixed in favor of Sam Smith’s The Writings on the Wall for Bond 24.

Exit Music has been used in countless TV shows and films, including composer, Ramin Djawadi’s cover of the piece in the HBO series Westworld.
