Wild Life is a 2023 documentary film that tells the story of Kris and Doug Tompkins, who dedicated their lives to conservation efforts in Chile and Argentina. Doug, founder of The North Face and co-founder of Esprit, and Kris, the former CEO of Patagonia, used their wealth and influence to purchase vast tracts of land, ultimately donating millions of acres to create national parks.

Composed by Gustavo Santaolalla (and Juan Luqui) “Doug and Kris” is a moving track from the Wild Life soundtrack. The song beautifully captures the profound love of the film’s subjects. Santaolalla’s signature 2-note intervals create a sense of intimacy — while the song’s open tuning gives way to wild landscapes of Chile and Argentina.

There are multiple guitars and instrumentation within this song. However, I was able create a single arrangement that comprises all of the melodies. It’s surprisingly easy to play.
