Closing

“Closing” is the title theme of the film, We Live In Time — a poignant romantic drama that explores the complexities of love, loss, and the passage of time. The film stars, Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh. The music is from Bryce Dessner, who is a prolific composer and guitarist for The National (one of my all time favorite bands).

I love the musical concept behind this piece. Dessner is using chordal triads to create the melodic passage. This is a clever way to create a rhythm and melody (all-in-one) from a single piano part. In this case, I just transposed to a single guitar part.

Closing is very reminiscent of Dustin O’Halloran’s work; another post-classical composer in the film music space.
