Chichina

Directed by Walter Salles, The Motorcycle Diaries 2004 is a biographical drama that chronicles the transformative road trip taken by a young Ernesto Guevara and his friend Alberto, across South America in 1952. The iconic soundtrack is from Gustavo Santaolalla. His song “Chichina” serves as a musical representation of the (girlfriend) and conventional life that Ernesto is leaving behind.

The Motorcycle Diaries soundtrack is awesome. It’s one of those scores, like Oppenheimer, that you can listen to from start to finish; perfect road trip music. I’ve included another piece from the soundtrack, Lago Frias, towards the end to create medley. Lago Frias was to short for its own post and guitar tab — so this was a fun way to get it on here.

How to play Chichina | fingerstyle guitar

The guitar tab for Chichina is 3 pages long and beautifully written. This arrangement is relatively easy to play and perfect for intermediate guitar players. I love when Gustavo Santaolalla descends to the A-minor chord in the verse.

I hope you enjoy playing this as much as I do! The guitar tab is available below:

My song structure looks like this in accordance with the guitar tab:

Intro, Verse 2x

Lago Frias, Intro

[guitar tab] **Gustavo Santaolalla: Chichina | fingerstyle guitar

Chichina is played in standard tuning.
