Blood Upon the Snow
I’m a massive fan of Hozier, and his performance of “Blood Upon the Snow” has been on my to-do list for a long time. The piece is from the game, God of War Ragnarök; an epic saga that takes players on a heart-wrenching journey through Norse mythology. Hozier’s soulful vocals are a perfect match for the theme’s haunting, Celtic melody. You can watch a live performance of that piece here.
As a solo fingerstyle arrangement, Blood Upon the Snow, sounds sophisticated, but it’s fairly easy to play. The piece will be a good opportunity for intermediate guitar players to get into some hammer-ons and trills. All of the chord shapes are basic and easy to play.

The guitar tab for this arrangement is beautifully written across 3 pages. I recommend this for intermediate guitar players and up. Enjoy! The guitar tab is available below:
My song structure looks like this, in accordance with the guitar tab:
Verse, Pre Chorus, Chorus 1
Verse, Pre Chorus, Chorus 2
**God of War Ragnarök: Blood Upon the Snow (Hozier) | fingerstyle guitar
My performance is tuned 2 whole steps down (from low to high): C F A# D# G C. Depending on your tuner, it will look like this: C F Bb Eb G C.
That’s too low for most folks with standard gauge strings. In that case, I recommend one-whole step down: D G C F A D, or plain old standard tuning: E A D G B E.
You’ll be in a higher pitch, but it will still sound great.
