Back to Friends
I really like this song from Sombr — the stage name of songwriter and producer Shane Boose. I have an 11-year-old son, and I teach a ton of kids guitar, so they keep me well-informed on the latest TikTok trends. “Back to Friends” is one I’ve been teaching a lot lately. It has a naturally darker, cinematic quality that made it a perfect fit for my catalog.
The verse and chorus melodies are strong throughout, but the bridge is where the song really opens up — a brilliant, Jeff Buckley-esque progression that elevates the whole thing.

How to play “Back to Friends” | fingerstyle guitar
The guitar tab for this piece is beautifully written across 2 pages. The bridge does have some barre-chord shapes that will challenge total beginners — so I recommend this arrangement for intermediate guitar players and up.
Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:
My song structure looks like this in accordance with the guitar tab:
Verse, Chorus 2x
Verse, Chorus 2x
Bridge, Chorus 4x
[guitar tab] **SOMBR: back to friends | Fingerstyle Guitar
This arrangement is played in a 1/2 step down tuning. You just as easily play it in standard tuning too.
[Note: My Cordoba C7 in the video is tuned one-whole step down, with a capo on the 1st fret bringing it to a 1/2 step down.]
