Trafalgar Celebration

I’m a big fan of composer, Rupert Gregson-Williams. He tends to write long passages of music — without many repeats. He scored Hacksaw Ridge (a phenomenal movie) where I’ve also created a guitar arrangement.

His brother, Harry Gregson-Williams has created the incredible scores to Prometheus and The Martian.

To me, Trafalgar Celebration, was the finest piece of music from the Wonder Woman soundtrack. I love the gnarly bit at the end, written by Tom Holkenborg from Batman v Superman. The Wonder Woman theme could have been a million different sappy things — but that short, singular, muscular guitar riff is perfect.

You can find all my arrangements for Batman v Superman here. Hans Zimmer’s Man of Steel Theme being my all time favorite.

Gear Used

For Trafalgar Celebration, I used my Cordoba GK Studio guitar. This is my best and most even sounding guitar. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ve realized that this is the one I use in most of my videos.

Nylon string guitars can have finicky tuning and intonation issues. Not so with the GK Studio, it’s pretty much flawless every time. I only use another guitar when I’m forced to do so because of a weird tuning, etc.

My strings are Savarez Red Card. I play with my finger-tips (not nails) so the rectified nylon on the treble strings gives me a very secure feeling, bright tone. You can find a list of all of my gear here.

How to play Trafalgar Celebration, by composer Rupert Gregson-Williams

(Note: This is my premium material. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel, or click here to be updated on all of my latest guitar tabs.)

Trafalgar Celebration is perfect for intermediate guitar players and up. Although the chord shapes are relatively easy to play, I could see this being a little daunting for beginner guitar players.

The guitar tab for Trafalgar Celebration is three pages long and played straight through without repeats.

If you’re new to my blog, I employ a specific fingerstyle technique that I picked up from playing one million Gustavo Santaolalla songs. You’ll notice that I match the fingers of my right hand to the strings and quickly arpeggiate through the chord shape — almost like a fingerstyle strum.

Lastly, you’ll notice <7> on the third page. This indicates a harmonic.

Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

Trafalgar Celebration is played in standard tuning, with a capo on the second fret.
