[Update 4/21/22]

Feather

This song is played during the end credits of Wind River. Feather is by indie folk artist, William Wild.

William Wild is the moniker of guitarist/singer Garrett Sale. I think it’s a Bon Iver situation, where the pseudonym eventually becomes known as the entire band’s name. Garrett Sale is uniquely his own artist — but his lyrics and ethereal voice invoke singer-songwriters like Ray LaMontagne.

I’m currently obsessed with Taylor Sheridan’s screenplays: Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River. Each of the movies are punctuated by a denouement dialogue scene at the end. William Wild’s Feather is perfectly placed in the final moments of Wind River. Garrett Sale is a tremendous artist, and I’m glad I found him through this movie.

Gear Used

For Feather, I used my Taylor GS Mini Mahogany. I like small acoustic guitars. I just find them easier to play. For a current list of all of my gear, click here.

How to play Feather by William Wild

This is a shortened instrumental version of Feather. I tried to ghost in the other instruments and vocal line into the initial guitar part. Feather is best for intermediate guitar players and up. Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

The guitar tab is beautifully written across three pages. My order of play looks like this, in accordance with the guitar tab:  Intro, Verse 2x, Pre Chorus 2x, Chorus 2x, Outro (same as Intro), End.
