True Detective Season 2

This song was amazing during the bar scene of True Detective Season 2, Episode 1. Lera Lynn’s guitar work totally reminds me of Jeff Buckley’s sweeping, wide-open guitar progressions of Grace.

Season 1 was a slow start for me, but once I got into it, I really got into it. I expect True Detective Season 2 to be the same way. The stories are so complex that it will be difficult to grasp from just the first couple episodes.

You’re only here because you’re a True Detective fan and a guitar player. So, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that I’ve also done the theme song of Season 1: Far From Any Road. It’s kitschy and creepy. You’ll love it.

How to play My Least Favorite Life by Lera Lynn

(Note: This is my premium material. Please join my email list to be updated on all of my latest guitar tabs.)

I use a dedicated guitar for low/alternate tunings. Mine happens to be a relatively cheap (but great) Alvarez AC65. I’m an enormous believer in high quality strings. I use Savarez Yellow Card for this particular guitar because the guitar performs normally at ultra-low and alternate tunings. [My regular nylon strings are Savarez Red Card.] You can find a list of all of my gear, here.

Even though I happen to be playing this song on a classical (I just dig the tone) — My Least Favorite Life will sound great on steel string acoustic and electric guitars too.

My Least Favorite Life is very easy to play. The guitar tab is neatly written across two pages. My order of play looks like this, in accordance with the tab: Intro 2x, Verse 2x, Chorus, Outro — Verse 2x, Chorus, Outro.

Unless otherwise indicated, my strum pattern for every chord is roughly: down, down, up. I’ve indicated to strum with a (…) symbol under the chords in the tab.

Enjoy! The guitar tab is available below:

My least Favorite Life is played in a D Minor tuning. Everything except the 4th and 5th stings will be tuned down one whole step. Your tuning is as follows, from low to high: D A D F A D.
