The Night King (part three)

My third (and final) installment of Ramin Djawadi’s The Night King is the crescendo of the whole 9 minute piece. It’s also the most memorable motif.

My lasting impression of this music is that of total brilliance. When I first watched The Long Night (Game of Thrones S8, Ep 3) I thought the music was a strangely deliberate. However, over time, the music and episode have become inextricably linked.

The creativity of Ramin Djawadi is stunning. I often wonder how Robert Plant came up with the unintuitive vocal melody on Kashmir. Same goes for The Night King; it’s odd, wild, and totally works.

The guitar tab for this final installment is beautifully written across 4 pages. I recommend this piece for intermediate guitar players and up.

Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

You’ll repeat (twice) the large passage from pages 2 and 3. On page 4 you’ll repeat the End section twice — swapping the final stanzas. All is indicated clearly in the guitar tab.

Game of Thrones: The Night King (part three) for guitar

The Night King (part three) is played two whole steps down: C F A# D# G C. If you don’t want to tune your guitar that low — you could also play the entire piece in standard or a whole step down. Whatever you choose will sound fine.
