The Last of Us (Variation)

The depth and creativity of Gustavo Santaolalla’s The Last of Us soundtrack never ceases to amaze me, even years later. Two of my favorite themes are: the title theme, and The Choice.

Inspired by Gustavo Santaolalla’s recent E3 performance, where he performed a slight variation of the title theme — I decided to create my own arrangement, combining the title theme and The Choice. This is something I’ve always wanted to do.

How to play The Last of  Us (Variation) | fingerstyle guitar

The Last of Us (Variation) is relatively easy to play. However, I feel it’s best suited to intermediate level guitar players. The guitar tab is long, and there quite a few trills interspersed throughout that would styme most beginner guitar players.

The guitar tab is beautifully written and a whopping FIVE pages long. You’ll play it straight through without any repeats.

I loved playing and performing this piece. Enjoy! The guitar tab is available below:

The Last of Us (Variation) is played in a nifty F minor tuning. Your tuning is as follows, from low to high: C F C F G# C. Or, depending on your tuner: C F C F Ab C.
