I wrote this piece as a Christmas song and The Holly in the Windy Hedge, is in *minor tone of my favorite traditional English Christmas carols. I based this tune upon a phrase in the poem: Christmas, by John Betjeman

‘…The holly in the windy hedge
And round the Manor House the yew
Will soon be stripped to deck the ledge,
The altar, font and arch and pew…’

Sir John Betjeman (August 28 1906 – May 19 1984) was an English poet, writer, and broadcaster. He was Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom from 1972 until his death. Listen to Sir John Betjeman read Christmas.

How to play Holly in the Windy Hedge by Evan Handyside

The guitar tab is beautifully written across two pages. This piece, in terms of speed, is meant for intermediate guitar players and up. However, beginners should give it a shot as there are no difficult chord shapes to speak of. Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

My order of play looks like this, in accordance with the guitar tab:

Intro, Main 2x

Bridge, Main 1x

End.
