Alexandre Desplat

Often, what I try to do, is distill a song down to its core elements — then create a guitar arrangement from that. I began this blog in 2011 doing note for note arrangements —  but I soon realized nothing sounds as good (to me) as the simplest from of the song.

For Alexandre Desplat’s The Danish Girl, I was able to do the minimalist guitar line possible.

In fact, the entire score of The Danish Girl is excellent. Although it’s (Alexandre Desplat) the feel is very much like The Theory of Everything — also starring Eddie Redmayne and scored by Johann Johannsson.

You might be able to find my guitar at a pawn shop for about $50. It’s a 1970 Yamaha G-65A. It has a booming low end — even though I’m capoed fairly high in the video. This was given to me by a friend who specializes in finding old guitars that are remarkable — but cheap. If interested, click here for a list of all of my current gear.

How to play The Danish Girl by Alexandre Desplat

The Danish Girl is a nice addition to my Easiest of Easy to Play archive. Please look in there if you’re a beginner guitarist. This archive is comprised of legitimate guitar songs that just so happen to be really easy to play. [Also click here for more songs that aren’t too difficult.]

The guitar tab for The Danish Girl two pages long, and spaced out beautifully with the beginner guitarist in mind. My order of play looks like this: Verse 2x, Bridge, Verse 2x, End.

The Danish Girl is played in standard tuning with a capo on the 3rd fret. My old 1970 guitar in the video is stuck in a 1/2 step down tuning — so my capo happens to be on the the 4th fret. However, you will have your capo on the 3rd fret.

Enjoy, the tab is available below:
