Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish is a 16 year-old Los Angeles based singer/songwriter. Her older brother, Finneas O’Connell, is Billie’s songwriting partner and producer.

Her song, ocean eyes, is just beginning to hit with my young guitar students. I’ve taught this song a dozen times already — so I thought I’d create a version for this blog. I also really dig Billie Eilish’s voice.

How to play ocean eyes for classical guitar

ocean eyes is relatively easy to play. The song used very basic chord structures. I arpeggiate the chords with my right-hand thumb, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fingers. I cover the technique extensively within this post.

The guitar tab for ocean eyes is three pages long and beautifully written. My order of play, in accordance with the guitar tab goes like this: Intro, Verse 2x, To Chorus, Chorus 2x, Chorus end — Verse II 2x, To Chorus, Chorus 2x, Chorus end.
