Alexander Payne’s 2013 film Nebraska is a bittersweet road movie about an aging man, Woody Grant (Bruce Dern), who believes he has won a million dollars in a sweepstakes. His estranged son, David (Will Forte), reluctantly agrees to drive him to Lincoln, Nebraska to claim his prize. Along the way, they visit Woody’s hometown and family members, and David learns more about his father’s past.
Nebraska is a beautifully shot film that captures the stark beauty of the Nebraska landscape. It is also a deeply moving film about family, forgiveness, and the importance of finding your place in the world.
