Making a Murderer

Making a Murderer, released in 2015, is an American true crime documentary television series created by Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos. The series chronicles the investigation and murder trial of Steven Avery, who spent 18 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. He was then released, only to be arrested again for the murder of Teresa Halbach in 2005.

The series has been praised for its in-depth investigation and its unflinching look at the criminal justice system. However, it has also been criticized for being biased in favor of Avery.

The series has had a significant impact on the public’s perception of the criminal justice system. It has also raised questions about the reliability of DNA evidence, and the use of eyewitness testimony.

I’m usually mimicking the actual guitar, ronroco, or instrumentation of my favorite composer, Gustavo Santaolalla. For the Making a Murderer opening theme, I had the opportunity to use Santaolalla’s orchestral music to create my own guitar arrangement.

Whatever side of the fence you’re on, Gustavo Santaolalla finds himself (again) at the musical helm of the most compelling content in the last 15 years.
