Beverly

Composer Benjamin Wallfisch’s IT score, is one of the great scores of 2017. I’m still enjoying the music, even two months removed from seeing the movie.

Beverly was a much requested piece from the score. If you’ve seen the movie, this music is played during the quarry swimming scene, where the boys are relishing the moment (and in simultaneous disbelief) that a pretty girl is hanging out with them.

The Beverly character is another reason why the IT movie works so well. I’ve had those moments my entire life, including meeting my wife where I thought, I can not believe this chick is hanging out with me?!?.

How to play Beverly for guitar

Initially, I came up with an exact replica transcription of Benjamin Wallfisch’s Beverly. However, having practiced it over and over, it didn’t favor my playing style and nor did it flow.

I then, slightly arranged the piece for guitar by removing the last melody note — in favor of the following bass note. Most likely, you’ll notice no distinction other than I’m playing guitar and the original is played on piano/orchestra.

The guitar tab for Beverly is three pages long and beautifully written. You’ll play the guitar tab straight through without repeats.

Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

Beverly is played in standard tuning, with a capo on the 5th fret.
