The Bogeyman | Laurie’s Theme

Free MP3 Download on SoundCloud.

The music for Halloween (2018) by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies — is the only soundtrack you need for making this Halloween’s walk to your front door just a little more edgy. Having listened to the whole thing — it’s great, old-school John Carpenter stuff.

For this latest reimagining of Halloween, I chose The Bogeyman, and Laurie’s Theme. Both songs are from the Halloween 2018 original motion picture soundtrack.

The Bogeyman, is a sparse and slow tempoed version of the original theme. The original synthesizer riff is so simple and brilliant. You’ll basically play the same riff, crawling down the fretboard one half step at a time. It’s very easy to play.

[To make this into a legitimate finger exercise for beginner guitar players — be sure to use your 1st, 3rd, and 4th fingers as you slowly descend the fretboard.]

Laurie’s Theme is slightly harder to play but acts as a perfect exercise for beginner guitar players too. It will be tricky to incorporate the bass note without breaking tempo.

Here’s my arrangement of John Carpenter’s central Halloween Theme (performed in the ambient/world style of Gustavo Santaolalla). This is one of my favorite all time arrangements — and the most highly original thing I’ve ever created.

Gear used

For The Boogeyman/Laurie’s Theme, I used my Cordoba GK Studio. You can find a current list of my gear here.

How to play The Bogeyman | Laurie’s Theme for classical guitar

As mentioned above, these are both very easy to play, and perfect for beginner guitar players. The guitar tab is spread across two pages. Although The Bogeyman is played straight through, you’ll take care to repeat the appropriate sections in Laurie’s Theme.

Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:

The Bogeyman and Laurie’s Theme are played in standard tuning.
