Hacksaw Ridge

Hacksaw Ridge is a 2016 biographical war film directed by Mel Gibson, based on the 2004 documentary: The Conscientious Objector. The film tells the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss, a Seventh-day Adventist Christian who served as a combat medic in World War II. Doss refused to carry (or use) a weapon of any kind. Even still he saved the lives of 75 wounded soldiers during the Battle of Okinawa, one of the bloodiest battles of the war.

Doss’s story is a testament to the power of faith, courage, and compassion. He faced ridicule and persecution from his fellow soldiers for his beliefs, but he never wavered in his conviction. Doss’s bravery and selflessness earned him the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration awarded to American soldiers.

The film Hacksaw Ridge is a powerful and moving depiction of Doss’s story. It is a reminder that true heroism is not about killing, but about saving lives. The film also explores the themes of faith, conscience, and the importance of standing up for what you believe in.

Praying is one of the songs that really jumped out to me from the Hacksaw Ridge score. It’s dramatic and poignant.
