The Landing

First Man, is the first-person account of Neil Armstrong’s moon landing. The movie explores the cost, sacrifice, and danger of the NASA mission from 1961 to 1969.

The Landing, by composer Justin Hurwitz is arguably best piece of music from First Man. It’s essentially the same tense motif played over and over. A brilliant melody that suggests danger and determination.

I feel The Landing has a very Interstellar vibe too. Hans Zimmer clearly put forth a musical ethos that’s finding its way into the Space adventure genre.

How to play The Landing | fingerstyle guitar

As mentioned above,The Landing is a repetitive motif. For guitar, it really plays out like an étude: a short piece of music that demonstrates a particular skill or ability. I love pieces like this, as they’re perfect for practicing agility — without needing a PhD in guitar playing.

The guitar tab is a single page long and beautifully written. You’ll play the main passage 4x — or more of you’d like practice!

The Landing is played in standard tuning with a capo on the 3rd fret.
