Angel in my Passway is also an even higher quality, free download on Soundcloud

I wrote this song while thinking about my wife — specifically when I first met her 18 years ago.

As an instrumentalist, who writes ambient music on a classical guitar, you might expect me play something soft, and tender. But that’s not how I, or any guy feels when you meet “the one” true love.

I remember feelings of: excitement, aggression, defiance, and adventure. A feeling that you can literally take on the world, and nothing else matters but this girl.

So, not surprisingly, I’m playing my Strat. My tone is slightly dirty, my riffs are whimsical, and I’m in a Jimi Hendrix: Bold as Love state of mind.

The video above also illustrates, the devastating clean/dirty tone of The Edge Strat. Once this guitar came out, I had to have it. I was playing an American Special Stratocaster. However, The Edge Strat, with it’s modern appointments and unique pickup combination was too irresistible. So, I traded my American Special in, and ponied up the extra $$ — much to the consternation of my wife. You can check out all of my gear here.

I derived the title of this song from Robert Johnson’s classic, Stones in my Passway — which has been covered by everybody, most famously by Eric Clapton.

The riffs are heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix’s, Bold as Love, Castles Made of Sand,  and Little Wing, as well as Stevie Ray Vaughn’s Lenny.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been in love Jimi’s R&B rhythmic clean guitar style. To this day, Jimi Hendrix is still the undisputed greatest guitarist of all time. I can say that confidently because he’s inspired every other guitar player on the Rolling Stone list below him.

Learning a Hendrix a song on guitar is nuts. That level of creativity has never been surpassed.

The guitar tab for Angel in my Passway, is basically two pages, with one long passage that you’ll repeat twice. As for difficulty, this is best for intermediate guitar players and up. The guitar tab uses symbology that only more experienced players will understand.

That being said is you’re a beginner, give it a shot! Enjoy, the guitar tab is available below:
