Edelweiss

Edelweiss is a 1959 piece from the musical, The Sound of Music. It is named after the edelweiss, a white flower found high in the Alps. The song was written for the Broadway production of The Sound of Music, for the character, Captain Georg von Trapp. In the 1965 film adaptation, the song is also sung by the Captain when he rediscovers music with his children.

This arrangement of Edelweiss uses the guitar template from The Sound of Music. However, I’ve been enamored with eerie Man in the High Castle version for some time. I tried to split the difference between the two.

How to play Edelweiss | fingerstyle guitar

The guitar tab for Edelweiss is beautifully written across two pages. You play the long passage within the ||: repeat brackets :|| two times through. However, on the second go-around, you’ll use End #2 rather than End #1. All of which is easily understood within the guitar tab.
