I’ve seen half of the first episode of Daredevil, but I fell asleep due to the exhaustion of having a newborn baby. We intend on binge watching the rest at some point. I hear it’s great.

I feel as though we’re all witnessing the golden age (and the future) of TV right now. As it turns out, I love music — especially music in film — and I’ve done quite a few the new long-form TV themes for guitar.

For the Realm – Game of Thrones

This is not my arrangement, but it is my transcription. This guitar version of the GOT main title theme was on the soundtrack of season 3. It’s a beautiful classical piece, and I was happy to transcribe it for myself, and you too. Check it out. For the Realm is a free tab — but it’s pretty difficult!

The Rains of Castamere – Game of Thrones

This song is played in some incarnation right before the demise of a GOT main character. I based this arrangement off of the Sigur Ros version, and it’s one of the better things I’ve ever played.

House of Cards

I’m a huge fan of House of Cards, and I arranged this main title theme for guitar. This is quite challenging to play, but it is a dead-on interpretation.

True Detective

This song is called Far From Any Road by The Handsome Family — and it’s used as the opening theme for True Detective. It’s very campy, and creepy too!

Marco Polo

This is a dead-on interpretation of the Marco Polo main theme for guitar. I LOVE playing this. The intro uses Asian-sounding pentatonic licks. If you’re a fan of the show –and you happen to be a guitar player — you love this too.

(Note: Daredevil is my premium material. However, an honorable mention goes to the Penny Dreadful theme, which is also a free tab! Please like, or subscribe to this blog to get updated on all of my free and premium material.)

How to play the Daredevil (Netflix) theme for guitar

For Daredevil, the initial theme is unremarkable to me. The opening sequence from a visual standpoint is awesome, but the music is okay.

I decided to use the music as a framework — then imagine what a professional composer like Gustavo Santaolalla would do. The result, I think, is a solid guitar piece, that’s not too difficult to play.

This is not meant as a slight towards the composers, John Paesano and Braden Kimball. I like their melodies and chords. The overall production is dated though. It has a late 90’s sound to me. [Just my opinion.] The same song, yet more orchestral would’ve been better.

The guitar tab for Daredevil is two pages long and played straight through — without repeats. I’ve also given you the basic chord name above each position to help you calibrate your chord shape with the video.

Enjoy! The tab is available below:

Daredevil is played in standard tuning with a capo on the 3rd fret:
