paper towns

One of the draw backs to get older is that you really do lose touch with the younger generation. Fortunately I teach guitar for a living — primarily to young people — and that keeps me abreast of what’s happening culturally.

One of my students, Austin, mentioned to me that Paper Towns was a pretty cool movie and that the music might be a good fit for this blog.

Having checked out the trailer, Paper Towns seems like the type of indie script that would have Rob Simonsen scoring — but that would be Son Lux frontman Ryan Lott.

Son Lux is actually (the stage name of) Ryan Lott who is based in NYC. Lott is an alt-rock (post rock) musician and singer.

How to play You Will Hardly Know Who I Am Or What I Mean

How about that for a title? This track stood out the most to me from the Paper Towns score. It’s also the most applicable to a solo guitar.

The guitar tab for You Will Hardly Know Who I Am Or What I Mean is two pages long — and for the most part — played straight through. Though not indicated in the tab (to avoid confusion) the section on page two, within the double repeat brackets ||  || is played twice — then the Outro.

Enjoy! The guitar tab is available below:

You Will Hardly Know Who I Am Or What I Mean is played in standard tuning — despite the capo I have in the video. That guitar worked best for me in the moment — and it happened to be tuned a half step down.
